Effective Feedback Training for AXA Hong Kong: Building a Culture of Care and Dare
Effective Feedback Workshop
In June 2026, I had the privilege of delivering a dynamic hybrid workshop on effective feedback for AXA’s regional team in Hong Kong.
The session brought together participants both in person and online, creating an interactive learning environment aligned with AXA’s powerful Care & Dare philosophy. We explored the mindset and practical strategies needed to give and receive feedback with confidence, empathy, and clarity — skills that drive stronger leadership, better performance, and healthier team cultures.
Why Feedback Culture Matters
We drew inspiration from the strong feedback culture in elite sports, where continuous, honest input is the foundation of excellence. The key question we tackled: How can we transfer this same mindset and openness into the corporate workplace?
At the heart of the workshop was the proven SBI Feedback Model (Situation – Behavior – Impact). Using this framework, we moved beyond theory into actionable strategies drawn from my experience leading large teams across Asia-Pacific at organizations like Apple and Estée Lauder.
What We Covered in the Feedback Workshop
Effective vs. Ineffective Feedback: Understanding what truly lands and drives change versus what creates defensiveness or confusion.
The Right Mindset: Cultivating positive intent, empathy, and courage - the emotional foundation for meaningful conversations.
Context is Everything: Choosing the right place, time, and language to ensure feedback is received well.
Intentional Language: How specific phrasing can transform potentially difficult conversations into growth opportunities.
Common Challenges in both giving and seeking feedback — and how to overcome them.
How to Ask For and Receive Feedback effectively, creating a true two-way dialogue.
Practical Application and Scenarios
Participants engaged in live scenarios and role-plays, including:
Giving constructive feedback upward to senior stakeholders or direct managers.
Delivering impactful feedback in time-constrained situations.
Using ready-to-adapt specific phrases for constructive conversations.
Techniques to confidently ask for feedback from peers and leaders.
The session was highly interactive, featuring real-time polls, group discussions, and hands-on practice so participants could immediately apply what they learned.
